Fingerless mitts with a smart twisted edging to the cuffs and a textured diamond pattern on the backs of the hands. The mitts have a gusseted thumb and are worked from cuff to fingers, mainly in the round.

SIZE
S/M: To fit 18-20 cm (7-8 inch) hand circumference

TENSION / GAUGE
26 sts and 36 rows to 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) in stocking stitch (stockinette stitch)

YARN
Rowan Pure Wool DK, 100% Wool, 125 m / 136 yds, 50 g ball, in shade 009. 2 balls.
Other DK / light worsted weight yarns should also work well, especially those with more than 50% wool content to provide elasticity. To achieve a dense fabric, a smaller size of needle is used than recommended on the ball band.

NOTIONS
Set of 2.75 mm (US 2) double pointed needles (or 80 cm/32 in long circular needle for magic loop) AND pair of 2.75 mm (US 2) straight needles or two double pointed needles; or size needed to obtain correct tension / gauge
Tapestry needle
5 stitch markers
Row counter
Smooth waste yarn

NOTE ON NEEDLES
Both a set of needles for your preferred method of working in the round and a pair of straight needles (or two dpns) are required. The straight needles are used for the twisted cuff, for which photo directions are included.

The diamond pattern is given in a chart and as written directions.
